Travels closer to home

Hugh & Gillian with group leaders Angela & Tony

Javea U3A members were taken on a trip around Spain and Portugal at the latest Travellers’ Tales meeting in the Javea Players Studio. In a presentation entitled “Travels Closer to Home (Part 2)”, members Hugh & Gillian Epsom recounted their 3,000km two-week holiday with an interesting talk, illustrated with some lovely photos and videos. Their journey started in Javea and included stops in Alcazar de San Juan, Salamanca, Montford de Lemos, Santiago de Compostela, Porto, Avila, Coimbra, Ciudad Rodrigo, Trujillo, Caceres and Merida. En route they enjoyed some fascinating features including historic monuments, beautifully decorated railway stations, universities and even a wonderful old bookshop in Porto, a favourite haunt of Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling and now a huge tourist attraction.

The next Travellers’ Tales meeting will feature a video produced by member Ross Ord showing his and Diane’s visit to the Atacama Desert and Easter Island. Contact group leaders Angela Chantry and Tony Dearie at travellers.tales@u3ajavea.com for details. (our thanks to Ian Rogerson, Javea U3A Communications Officer, for his excellent photos and report).
