Charity donation boosts Make A Smile during lockdown

Our interim donation to our charity of the year, Make A Smile, has been well received by the charity – and much of the money has already gone to some very good causes.

Make A Smile representative Gemma has written to Javea U3A Treasurer Sally Rush expressing thanks and outlining how the money is being used.

Here is a copy of her letter:

I just wanted to give you an update on what your very generous donation of €2125 has been spent on so far.

As you may know due to the lockdown, the children are having to complete their schoolwork from home, which has been proving quite difficult in some cases due to lack of material. Therefore, the majority of the money has been spent on school supplies such as stationery, laptops, printers etc.

For the home in Polop, we have spent €219 on a laptop and €245.93 on school supplies. This particular order included a printer, replacement ink cartridges as well as notebooks and pens.

For Vergel as they have more children in the home we spent €608.80 on general school supplies, replacement inks for their printers etc.

Finally, for Alfaz €219 was spent on a laptop, €193.06 on school supplies and €299 on a TV.

The overall total spent so far is €1784.79.

Best wishes

Gemma
