Twenty-four Javea U3A members attended the inaugural meeting of the new Garden Group at the Ca Aleix restaurant in Cami Cabanes (behind the huge metal whale on the garden centre road) to formulate plans for future events.
Group leader Marilyn Staus welcomed members to the first meeting and said she was looking forward to doing numerous activities including visiting gardens, garden centres and guided tours. She has already organised a visit to L’Albarda Garden near Pedregeur, described as “a hidden jewel” in November.
Another member at the meeting – Josie Varney – offered to host a get-together in her garden in Javea in October.
Various other ideas were discussed at the meeting, including outings to see the almond blossom in February, visits to open gardens and help and advice on garden design and the care of plants.
