From Fiji to Papúa New Guinea by Rosalind Miranda Part II

Rosalind will be giving the second part of her talk given in March about the four-year sail that she took around the western Pacific on her small yacht many years ago.  All history now!  You don’t have to have heard the first part to enjoy this one.

Rosalind had talked about the start of her sailing trip in Fiji, where she bought the little boat and gave details of life aboard back then, plus history of islands visited.  She sailed to the New Hebrides (now Vanuatu) and up through the then British Solomon Islands to Papua New Guinea.

The talk will start in Papua New Guinea and continue to cross the equator into what at that time was the Trust Territory of the Pacific.  Tales of the of Truk and Saipan and sailing up to Japan. She lived in Japan for some months then sailed to Hong Kong via Taiwan, through a massive storm.

She will relate some of the history of each of the places she visited on the yacht, with pictures to illustrate the talk.  Times have definitely changed since then.
