Activities
- Click here to see a list of the groups we have within U3A Jávea which shows the diversity of interests that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
- Due to the pandemic, we have been unable to hold any General Meetings or group activity meetings since 15 March 2020 (or soon after) due to limits on the numbers allowed to gather.
- With the help of Zoom video conferences, we have been able to hold a series of talks for members that took place on the regular date for the General Meetings. This has enabled many members to keep in touch and to be entertained for an hour without risking their health.
- Sports groups such as Badminton, Table Tennis and Padel were able to resume their activities in October 2020, when premises were opened again and they are now meeting again after suspension during the last few months.
- Holidays and travel have of course been suspended, and as yet, there is no indication when they can resume but the group leaders have plans in place to start up again as soon as allowed.
Communications
- Monthly Newsletters have continued throughout to keep members up to date with important information.
- Greater use has been made of the Facebook group to quickly keep members up to date with changing regulations and to enable questions to be asked and answered which have helped clarify points.
- We have continued to include items in the local Press about things that we have done, such as charity donations and our virtual monthly meetings.
Membership
- Our number stands at 1329 with a few new members having joined during the year, despite the lack of activities on offer.
Finances
- The end of year accounts are published on the website and show a healthy balance of funds despite the lack of income for 2021. This is mainly due to not using the Parador each month and no lunches for the Committee and Group Leaders.
Speakers
- Our main speaker throughout 2020, and to date, has been Peter Atkinson who was kind enough to spend a lot of time making videos of his presentations. We had a guest appearance from Alan Oliver in February 2021. All presentations are published on the website.
