Monday 11th December 2023 18.00h: Parador de Jávea Our Christmas Party this year will be an extra special event as we will also be celebrating the group’s 10th anniversary: January 2014 – December 2023, so come and join the fun! More than 90 members of Javea U3A’s Dining Out group enjoyed a get-together with a difference at a Summer Party on the terrace at the golf club. Group leaders Linda Coughlin and Alan Guest turned the usual monthly event into an occasion to remember – with a special tapas meal and dancing under the stars with music and entertainment provided by the popular James Hurst. The sun shone brightly all week for the 44 members who had joined the Spanish Culture and Cuisine tour, visiting Almagro and Jaen and the 2 UNESCO World Heritage towns of Úbeda and Baeza.  Our first two nights were spent in the historic Parador de Almagro, a former Franciscan convent located a few minutes’ walk from the Plaza de Mayor. Another fun afternoon at the (June) monthly Wine Appreciation Group lunch at La Plaza 6 restaurant. Five wines – two whites and three reds – were expertly presented by WAGS group leader Trevor Rush. And there was a surprise presentation to him: a special bottle of wine generously gifted by returning member Geoff Spinks. So popular is Javea’s Chalet Suizo restaurant with the U3A Dining Out group that members went back for second helpings! Two Javea U3A members had a fun time exploring Egypt and Jordan, which was clearly illustrated at the latest Travellers’ Tales presentation.
