The Marjal del Moros is a wetland located in Camp de Morvedre, Puçol, which covers an area of 620,000 hectares. It has various freshwater lagoons, allowing for the development of a large variety of native flora and fauna, including year-round and migratory birds. It is classified as a Special Protection Area for Birds by the European Union as natural areas of singular importance for the conservation of endangered birdlife.

Programme
08.30 hrs: Departure from Golden Star Apartments, Calle Bruselas, Jávea Arenal.
08.45 hrs: Departure from Interiors (opposite side of the road), Jávea port.
09.00 hrs: Pickup at Mas y Mas on the N332, if required.
10.30 hrs: Arrival at the Restaurante l’Estany de la Marjal dels Moros Puçol; refreshment
break.
11.00 hrs: Commence the walking route (no guide as the route is well signposted). Flat, circular
trail through the Marjal dels Moros, passing the different bird observation points and the Grao
Vell. Time: approximately 3 hours.

The fortified complex of Grau Vell, a small settlement located south of the port of Sagunto, was declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 2003 with the category of Monument. It was the old and historic port of Sagunto, and will become an interpretation centre towards the end of 2025. Grau Vell is currently made up of about 30 houses around a main street, a small church and the
Xiringuito el Grau Vell (which may be closed).
14.30 hrs: Return to our starting point with lunch at a local restaurant in Puçol.
16.30 hrs: Return to Javea.
18.30 hrs: Approximate time of arrival back in Jávea.

Please note that walkers undertake this activity at their own risk and the Javea U3A is not liable in any respect: It is your responsibility to look at the walk characteristics and ensure that you can do the walk. Members participate at their own risk and are responsible for their own medical cover. In case of cancellation, it may only be possible to give a refund if another member takes over your place.
