Well that went well we feel😃
The new name Thursday WAGS was confirmed and we started off 2026 with a turnout of 45 members at L’Escut.
Karen and I welcomed everyone on time and in good spirit. Unfortunately our January presenter Derek fell ill shortly before the meeting so Karen raised her game and managed to purchase some of presenter’s preferred wines covering Bullas and Jumilla wine regions of Murcia D.O.. Five wines were presented by Karen and I, accompanied with Spanish tapas and a traditional Murcian dish to compliment the final two red wines.
Going forward, it is intended to present regional wines from specific regions on not only Spain but European countries and if possible global countries also. At these future presentations it is also intended to have traditional dishes to compliment the presented wines.
The raffle was drawn resulting in five happy winners before the afternoon drew to a close.
Many thanks to Derek for the research and information he provided, to Steve Young for taking the pictures and to Elizabeth and her team at L’escut for the food and hospitality.
Finally, Karen and I would like to thank everyone who attended and we look forward to seeing you all next month.
