U3A Jávea Autumn Ball – an evening of glamour, fun, music and dancing

When it comes to events at Salones Carrasco, it’s always a party! 115 U3A Jávea members showed up on Sunday night, all set to have a wonderful time.

And boy, were they in for a treat. The organising team (far too many to name individually) had outdone themselves. They transformed the room into a stunning setup, complete with great food, wonderful entertainment, and an opportunity to make a real difference for underprivileged kids in Jávea.

U3A President Claude Grealy

U3A Jávea President Claude Grealy kicked things off by welcoming everyone and giving a huge shout-out to the organising committee for their amazing efforts.

About the evening’s raffle, Claude said, “We’ve got some fabulous prizes up for grabs tonight! Every penny we raise will go to ‘Make a Smile,’ a fantastic local charity supporting children and disadvantaged youngsters in our community.”

Claude also touched on the recent tragedy caused by the DANA Floods in Valencia, saying, “I’m incredibly proud of our U3A Jávea members for their generous contributions to our DANA appeal for the Red Cross. We’ve already sent €3,000, and donations are still coming in”.

“Next Monday, 25th November, our Not Just Folk Music Group is hosting a special concert to raise even more funds for the Red Cross. The concert starts at 5pm at Isla Bonita bar in Jávea, conveniently located next to the Go Kart track with plenty of parking”.

“Thank you all for coming tonight, and I hope you have a fantastic evening.”

Guests enjoyed a cava reception with delicious canapés, followed by a sumptuous three-course dinner with plenty of wine.

As everyone indulged in the fantastic fare, the organising team were busy selling tickets for our fabulous prize table.

Once the plates were cleared, our brilliant singer, James Hirst, kept the energy high, getting everyone up and dancing to great tunes, both old and new.

During the interval (to give James a chance to draw breath), the raffle prizes were drawn. A big thanks to the wonderful team of runners who ferried the prizes to our winners. In total, we raised the fantastic sum of €1277.47 for Make A Smile: this will make a huge difference to local children at Christmas – thank you!!
