Last Tuesday we had a great celebration in the Javea Players Studio to mark the 20th anniversary of the Travellers Tales Group. Members enjoyed a glass of cava to toast the continued success of the group, after which Larry Sherrington gave a very interesting presentation on Trains and Boats and Coaches Around the Lakes of Northern Italy, a tour which he and Yvonne had enjoyed in August last year. The photos showed what a beautiful place Italy is to visit, with its wonderful scenery, quaint towns, lakes and majestic mountains.
Larry had given the first presentation to the group way back in March 2006 when meetings were held at Angela’s villa up on Montgo Piver and there were several members present who remembered those early days!
Angela then cut the cake which Sylvie Cooper had kindly made for the occasion – and what an amazing cake it was, as well as being delicious!
Angela thanked Larry and presented him and Yvonne with gifts of wine and chocolate for their continuous support over the past 20 years. Our Javea U3A president, Claude Grealy, then surprised Angela on behalf of the committee with a beautiful, and very large, bouquet of flowers and a bottle of wine. Angela gave a special thank you also to Ally O’Brien and Wendy & John Ranger for their help, and to Wendy, Linda Grealy and Tom Miller for taking photos of the event.
