Cartagena is a city/naval base located 2.5 hours drive from Javea and was founded in 220BC by the
Carthaginians.
Visitors can tour a vast collection of Roman history, visit the caves where the population
hid from bombs during the civil war, visit the many museums including the naval and submarine
museums or shop (some shops may be closed due to the fiesta) and explore the town.
The U3A Javea Travel team are planning a visit to Cartagena from 26 to 28 March 2024.The trip is taking place during Semana Santa or Holy Week and you will be able to see the wonderful Semana Santa processions passing through the town each evening.

This includes two nights in a 4* hotel bed and breakfast, coach travel and tips. All time on this visit is free
