The truth about Lord Byron – bad man or genius?

The poet Lord Byron was described by Lady Caroline Lamb as “Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know”.

However, members who attended the latest History Group meeting at the Javea Players’ Studio discovered the lesser-known secrets of the man thanks to an excellent talk by the U3A’s own Angela Chantry.

Her presentation, entitled ‘Lord Byron (1788-1824): The most flamboyant and notorious of the English romantic poets’, was a real revelation and brightened up a dull day for members attending the talk.

The next talk – ‘Shackleton, Hero or Not?’ – will be by History Group leader Ally O’Brien at the JP Studio on Tuesday November 8 at 11am. Further details will appear here later.
