Firstly, can we thank the wonderful crowd who turned out on Monday for the Not Just Folk Music DANA Fundraiser. At times like this, it is always heart warming to see how our Asociacíon pulls together to help those who are in great need.
Also, a big shout-out to NJFM Group Leader, Roger Saunders and Peter Allin (one of our esteemed former Presidents, in case you didn’t know) for being the event masterminds and bringing everything together.
And naturally a big thanks to Krystyna and Peter’s wife, Lorraine, for tirelessly collecting donations at the door all night long.
Special mention to the 30-plus musicians who performed for free, including the fabulous Ukaholics, who travelled all the way from Denia. Musicians came from all over the Marina Alta and we are grateful to them all for providing such fantastic entertainment (double click any image to expand).
Here is a sample of the brilliant music that kept everyone enthralled:
Finally, we couldn’t have done it without the incredible generosity of everyone who attended. As the collection buckets got heavier and heavier, we were all blown away as the total grew higher.
Finally, Peter Allin took to the microphone again to thank everyone who had helped to organise the event, had participated in the music or had given generously to the appeal. He proudly told the audience that a total of €1,500 had been raised: a sum of money which will be passed to Cruz Roja in Jávea to support their efforts to assist the victims of the DANA Floods.
Thank you to everyone for your generosity! If you weren’t able to come along on Monday but you would like to make a donation, you can do so via the U3A Jávea: just click the button below!
