Shutterbugs hold their first meeting

Shutterbugs the newly re-formed U3A Photography Group met for its first, get to know you, meeting in March with the first formal meeting in April. The group has already grown to 14.

Shutterbugs is based on a self help group where every member has a part to play. The aim is to benefit from each others expertise and guest speakers (in time). The Group Leaders are Colin Ruddle and Mal Thomas.

Each month we have a photographic project to get stuck in to. In March we set the project as “Movement”. Each member then sets about photographing scenes that depict movement, water, clouds, fast cars and bikes etc. To help, we watched an instructional video/s by an expert on the subject. Each member then presents two of their best photographs.

During the subsequent meeting (April) the entries are viewed and those members attending offer critique from which the “Picture of the Month” is chosen.

April’s winner was “Kayak” by Kevin McLoughlin. A superb picture which is a wonderful example of movement photography. Well done Kevin.
