Murder mystery drama at Family History meeting

Members of the U3A’s Family History group were entertained to an excellent presentation by fellow member Duncan Petrie at their February meeting.

Duncan began his talk with a reference to the late Michael Parkinson, who had been considered “not interesting enough” to be featured on BBC TV’s ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’

Duncan assured his audience that, contrary to that assumption, everybody’s background was of interest – and he illustrated that with a fascinating insight into his own ancestry and the amazing characters that his years of research had brought to light.

It included prominent MPs, church leaders, professors …. and even a pirate!

Scottish-born Duncan even highlighted a real-life murder mystery drama which his ancestors had been involved in – although his family emerged unblemished!

Group leader Lorely Griffiths thanked Duncan for his in-depth presentation.
