On Sunday evening the party began at Salones Carrasco with lots of chat and laughter during the cava reception, where friends met up, with many guests wearing Christmas outfits or dressed to impress!
Angela Chantry, the organiser, then gave a short review of the Spanish Culture & Cuisine year, and thanked members for their continued support, which enabled her to present a donation on their behalf to our Javea U3A president, Claude Grealy, of €350 to the children’s charity, Make A Smile. Angela then called for a round of applause for our U3A treasurer, Henrik Rasmussen, and vice-president Margaret March, who had each been given a thank you gift at the Pre-Christmas Bash. She also thanked Trevor Rush, who gives her a lot of help with printing for the SC&C trip information packs and it was time then to sing happy birthday to Mallory Glover, who was celebrating his birthday with us all at the party!
An excellent dinner was served by an attentive team of waiters, led by Emilio. A special favourite for many was the starter: Crispy Millefeuille with goat cheese and diced pumpkin. The Entertainers began the first part of their show around 8 pm, but their great voices and music soon had everyone up and dancing. As dessert was served, it was time for us all to sing happy birthday to Mallory once again! For the short interval, the group had prepared a list of disco music for everyone to dance to.
The Entertainers then returned for the 2nd part of their show, with fantastic music and lively dancing. Everyone danced the night away until it was time for Angela to thank The Entertainers for their excellent performance, and she also thanked Emilio and his team for their great service during the evening.
