If you think exercise can be boring and hard work, think again! The U3A’s Gentle Aerobics group could be just for you – sociable, fun and invigorating.
Member Bobby Ogden runs the group at Paris24 (L’Ancora Club de Tennis) in Avenida de Paris on Wednesday mornings from 10am.
The group can accommodate around 15 to 20 members at a session. The aim is to achieve general fitness, flexibility and stamina while having fun in a social setting.
Members need only to have a normal level of fitness, but if anyone has particular problem with knees etc an alternative programme of exercises can be given. For those with impaired mobility, many of the exercises can be taken whilst seated.
Bobby stressed: “The idea is for members to come along and have an enjoyable time improving fitness and stamina.”
Participants are asked to bring a mat, water and suitable footwear.
The general format of the class is a warm-up of about 15 minutes to popular music, arm and leg exercises with bands or weights, then tummy and back exercises followed by a relaxing cool-down. Members can then enjoy a chat and coffee.
The charge for each session is just 3 euros to cover the cost of the room.
