We had a wonderful photo competition at the last meeting. It was a complete success from a fun point of view but our overall facial recognition was absolutely appalling. Thank you to everybody who wholeheartedly took part and made it a great meeting.
This website came up in conversation, I have used it quite a few times in the past pandering to my delusions of grandeur. I might have some claim to the elite, de Carles of Bordeaux but yet to be proven.
200th Anniversary of Burke’s Peerage 1826–2026
Burke’s Peerage is a world-famous institution that has recorded the genealogy of historical families for 200 years. Today, its books can be found in the private collections and the public libraries of most countries around the world.
What began in the early 19th century as a record of a small but powerful group of the ruling elite of the British Empire has since developed to encompass the complexity and diversity of the whole of humanity in the early 21st century.
Burke’s Peerage is unique, and its archive collection is incomparable. It has recorded tens of thousands of families and hundreds of thousands of individuals from almost every nation on Earth, spanning more than 2000 years of history.
A very warm welcome to our new members. I have added everyone to the newsletter mailing list. I will also be arranging one-to-one sessions to get you started. Within the next week, I will inundate you with information sheets, don’t be overwhelmed it’s great fun, though it is a slow process. Our experienced members recommend that you have at least three pieces of proof for each person before you move back in time.
The Jávea Player’s Studio will NOT be available for our April meeting as it will be set up for their performances of their latest play “Ripcord”. So for April we will be meeting at The Parador. This is on the 21st of April for a 3pm start.
It will be summer soon and too hot before we know it.
