Family History Meeting 16th September 2025

Dear Family Planners,

Firstly I’m so pleased that many things are resolved, in that, for September, October and November we are meeting at Javea Players’ studio. I sent out a rather woeful pathetic cry for help, for speakers. Well they all came up trumps. Here is the line-up and they will be using all the singing and dancing equipment at Javea Players’ studio.

The Javea Players’ Studio is near Mercadona in the old town. There will be a collection of 2 euros per person on entry to cover the cost of room hire. The doors open at 2.30pm with the talk starting at 3pm.

Tuesday September 16th at 3pm “Archivus: My New Genealogy Research Buddy”

Elaine Wareham is going to do a presentation on the use of AI in Genealogy. I went to a talk recently at Javea computer club on AI. The enormity of it all frightened me to death, however used properly it is quite fantastic!

Tuesday October 21st at 3pm “Using Maps in Family History”

Keith Smith will present on

Using maps in family history
How to use National Library of Scotland map system (not just for Scotland!)
Keith is also going to explain his methods of record keeping.

Tuesday 18th November at 3pm “The Poor Law, Workhouses and Social Reform in the 19th century”

Angela Chantry is doing a presentation that I particularly asked for. Many years ago she did this one for our group and we were all absolutely fascinated. You might not know but this is just one of the subjects that Angela attained one of those big paper qualifications for.

Looking forward to seeing those of you who are back in country,

Very best wishes
