‘Navigating the treacherous waters of an AI world’ by Christine Betterton-Jones

Artificial Intelligence is everywhere. It is rapidly becoming deeply ingrained into the very fabric of society, and there’s no going back. But ChatGPT is not a genius- it’s a sophisticated parrot, and parrots have more brains.

AI Translation tools don’t understand the subtleties of language – because they are electronic tools, not human beings. However AI technology is capable of making convincing fakes which can used for fun, or to fool, defraud, and defame.

We must all be aware of the strengths and limitations of AI, to be able to spot fraudsters and to use AI tools wisely.
