General Meeting and Speaker
This will be a general meeting with reports from the Committee followed by a talk by Rosalind Miranda ‘A FOUR-YEAR NOT-ALWAYS-PACIFIC SAIL AROUND THE WESTERN PACIFIC, April 1973-December 1976’
Rosalind said – My trip started in Fiji. From there, over a four-year period, I sailed to the New Hebrides (now known as Vanuatu), then continued to the Solomon Islands |(which was then the British Solomon Islands), Papua New Guinea, Truk in the Carolines, Saipan in the Marianas, Japan, Taiwan, & Hong Kong.
I will start by explaining how & why I came to get a yacht. I will then give some highlights of each of the places I visited, talking about the history of the place, some of its customs, & some of the fascinating people I met. Finally I will explain why I didn’t continue the trip after Hong Kong.
