A new SC&C tour: Beautiful towns in Matarraña – the ‘Spanish Tuscany’
Monday 8th-Friday 12th September 2025
Matarraña, a lesser-known region in eastern Aragon, and one of the most beautiful in Spain, is often referred to as the ‘Spanish Tuscany’. Both areas are renowned for their small medieval towns, cobblestone streets, charming squares, towers, and bridges, but their feel is very different. Matarraña hides authentic artistic and natural treasures. Its villages have preserved their medieval or Renaissance atmosphere to such an extent that when you walk through them you will feel like you are in another era. Towns such as Valderrobres and Calaceite preserve urban complexes that take you back to times gone by. Natural spaces such as Puertos de Beceite will allow you to enjoy nature in its purest state.
This will be a relaxed tour where you can do as much or as little as you wish: take a leisurely stroll through the narrow streets of these interesting little towns and enjoy a glass of wine in one of the many pretty squares; alternatively visit a museum, a church or two, climb up to a castle, or join Angela on an easy walk by the river at Puertos de Beceite.
