Hello everyone! Hope you all enjoyed your summer either in the sun or trying to avoid being melted by it!
Summer is Spain is not quite finished (is it ever?) but it’s time to update you with our forthcoming plans for History Group

New Venue!
or should I say returning home?
Future events will be held at Casa Cultura in the Old Town.
As before always on the 2nd Tuesday of the month starting at 11am and lasting one hour.
Casa Cultura is a public building funded by the Ayuntamiento and as such there is now NO CHARGE FOR ENTRY!
Autumn Programme
We have 3 talks planned for this autumn, all from very experienced Javea U3A presenters.
October 14th 11am Gary Johnson will be taking us through THE TREACHERY OF ANTHONY BLUNT. A character from recent history who I’m sure you all recall. Whilst other members of the Cambridge Spy Ring were exposed some time ago, Blunt was able to hide in plain sight and indeed occupy a role close to the Queen. How was he able to do this?

November 11th, 11am, Mike Granville, one of our seasoned presenters returns with a presentation entitled 1946, in which he explores the post World War Two world and the events that shaped many of our lives. Perhaps you were born in 1946? Our presenter Mike was, so he can speak with real authority!

December 9th 11am, another regular speaker from History Group and Travellers Tales is John Reynolds and he has a very intriguing presentation called THE CURIOUS CYCLISTS. In 1895 two British artists cycled from Santander to Gibraltar and along the way made sketches and photos. John recreates their adventures and will explain the direct link to Javea they have.

All talks will of course be advertised individually here and on the Javea U3A Facebook page nearer the time.
But if you don’t want to miss out why not subscribe to our newsletter by writing to Group Leader Keith Smith at history@u3ajavea.com
Remember, History is fun! See you all soon
