Dining Out

As the sun set, the temperatures were rising at Jávea Golf Club where the Dining Out Group danced the night away at their Summer Party. Double click on the photographs to expand them As well as enjoying good food and dancing, there were two very special anniversaries: As always, we both really enjoyed organising this event but now it’s time to relax, enjoy the summer and prepare for the next event in September. The Dining Out Group held its latest soirée at Chalet Suizo on the Carretera Jesus Pobre in Jávea. 61 members of the Group enjoyed fantastic food and drink and the conversations went on long into the evening. Group Leaders Alan Guest and Linda Coughlin were delighted that so many members stayed on to enjoy a drink together but, eventually, they had to leave the hardliners to wend their weary way home. Another successful Dining Out evening – this time at Attico restaurant in Javea Port. A total of 56 members enjoyed a tasty meal comprising four delicious starters, main course and dessert together with wine or beer. Thanks to group leaders Alan Guest and Linda Coughlin for once again organising a memorable function. During the evening Alan proposed a toast to “absent friends” following the sad passing of well-known members Robin Race and Tony Dearie, who died within a day of each other.  Everyone raised their glasses in memory of the pair and condolences to their friends and families.

The first Dining Out event of the 2024 new year was something of a departure from previous outings – group leaders Alan Guest and Linda Coughlin decided to try out lunch instead of the usual evening slot. And the 36 members in attendance agreed it was an overwhelming success. Members Haken and Maria Antbring proposed a vote of thanks to Alan and Linda for organising the event as well as staff at Posidonia restaurant on the Arenal for their excellent food and service.

Another great Dining Out evening – this time at the beautiful Bacchus restaurant. More than 60 U3A members enjoyed a fabulous evening, once again organised by group leaders Alan Guest and Linda Coughlin. Congratulations to them and also to restaurant owner Milena and her staff for the excellent service.

The next event for the group is at Restaurante Oasis, Ctra. Portitxol 35, Javea. The menu choices will be sent to group members shortly when bookings will be taken. Congratulations to Linda Coughlin and Alan Guest for organising a superb Dining Out evening on their debut as group leaders. For their first event since taking over from former leaders Mallory and Christine Glover, they welcomed 58 members and guests to Chalet Suizo restaurant in Javea – and it proved an overwhelming success. Special thanks go to the restaurant staff, who excelled themselves by serving up a delicious three-course meal complemented by a range of tasty starters and wine. Details of the next Dining Out evening in November will be sent as soon as available.
