Middle England by Jonathan Coe
Tony Lawton’s March presentation was a real treat. It was an emotional tapestry of Middle England, mostly focussing on Birmingham.
Jonathan Coe encapsulates the spirit of the times through his main character Benjamin Trotter whose many family members, friends and acquaintances are well described and give an insight into life pre and post Brexit.
I won’t tell you too much about it as you may want to read it yourselves?
Just to sum up, there are lots of stories interwoven through various characters.
Sometimes laugh out loud and others extremely sad. A bit like real life.
