Book Club Review – The Book of Fire

Set in present day Greece the story tells of the damage caused by fire and the escape from it. It later describes beautifully the attempts to rebuild the community overcoming drama on its way.

Christy Lefteri mainly focuses on the unsettling effects of the fire on three characters, Irini, Tasso and Chara. Through Chara, the young daughter the reader is given hope that all will be well.

The views of the group were varied and interesting with several who would rather not have bothered and others appreciating its writer.

We are having a break for Christmas with so many away and busy so will be back in January with a review of The Island of the Missing Trees by Elif Shafak.
