Big turnout for Moors Lecture

There was a full house for the February meeting of the U3A’s History Group at the Javea Players Studio.

Extra chairs had to be put out for members who turned up for Keith Smith’s talk on ‘Al Azraq, the Moorish Warlord of the Marina Alta’.

Group leader Alison O’Brien was delighted with the turnout, one of the biggest since she took over the group.

And the audience were not disappointed as they listened to Keith’s well-researched lecture on the Moorish period in and around our area of Spain. His presentation featured some entertaining video clips including the Hollywood blockbuster El Cid – who Keith was keen to emphasise that, in his opinion, was not so much a hero as a mercenary!

Well done Keith for an excellent presentation.
