Membership
We have a healthy number of members and a steady stream of new applications each month. We ended the year with 1184 members of whom 221 joined in 2025.
General Meetings & EC Sponsored Events
Following the changes to the General Meeting format to have a variety of monthly meetings we held the following meetings for all members:
• January – Annual General Meeting, Casa de Cultura Javea
• February – Open Day at the Parador
• March – Coffee Morning at the Social Centre
• April – 20th anniversary celebration at Salones Carrasco, with wine and tapas subsidised by U3A Javea and attended by 120 members
• May – General Meeting, Casa de Cultura Javea followed by a presentation by Peter Atkinson entitled “Highlights and Anecdotes: My 20 years giving presentations to U3A Javea”.
• June – Summer Party, at Isla Bonita to celebrate 20 years of U3A Javea, with tapas and drinks subsidised by U3A and entertainment by 20/20 Band. This was attended by over 110 members
• September – No meeting due to closure of the Social Centre at short notice.
• October – General Meeting, Casa de Cultura, followed by a performance of the Denia Rock Choir, attended by over 80 members
• November – Pre Christmas Bash, entertainment by Dave Manhattan, with wine and tapas subsidised by U3A Javea at the Salones Carrasco, attended by 150 members
Charity Giving
Members have again excelled themselves this year with charitable donations totalling 4122€.
20th Anniversary Celebrations
This year U3A Javea celebrated the twentieth year of its founding in 2005. The principal celebrations took place in April at Salones Carrasco dedicated to founding members and past committee, and in June at Isla Bonita with some 120 members in attendance.
Groups
Most of our 45 groups continue to flourish, thanks to our Group Leaders and members, though Bird Watchers and Jewellery making have now closed.
An Open Day was held in the Parador in February with about 30 group leaders present. Such was its success that this event will be repeated in February this year.
Travel policy and procedures have been updated based our travel leaders input and experience.
Finances
The end of year Financial Account is now published on the website and shows we have an equity of approximately 8000€ at the start of this 2026 financial year.
