Packed house for TT presentation “Singapore to Shimla, a delayed adventure”

It was a packed house for last Tuesday’s Travellers Tales’ meeting in the Javea Players’ Studio, when 70 members gathered to listen to John Reynold’s presentation on the adventure which he and Jane enjoyed in February 2024. As it was the first meeting for 2025, it was a social get-together with nibbles, cava and Buck’s Fizz available and a chance to wish everyone a happy New Year.

John then took us on a fascinating journey which started in Singapore, followed by a cruise on the Celebrity Millennium ship to Penang, Phuket, Hambantota, Columbo, Chochin, Goa and Mumbai. From Mumbai John & Jane were taken on a tour of “the Golden Triangle”, which included the major sightseeing spots in Jaipur, Agra and Delhi. Their adventure took them to many UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Finally, a rather uncomfortable train ride from Kalka to Shimla, where the view from their hotel room was magnificent and more than enough to compensate for the journey by train which they had experienced to get there!

The presentation brought back many happy memories for a lot of the members present and John received a big round of applause as Angela presented him with the customary “thank you” gift of wine. It was a fascinating talk with great photos, given in John’s interesting and humorous style.

On behalf of the group, our many thanks to John Reynolds, and also to Wendy Ranger for manning the door and taking photos, to John Ranger who served everyone their drinks, and to Ally O’Brien and Brenda Bates who helped Wendy & John to wash all the cava glasses and to clear up.

Report by the group leader, Angela Chantry.
