A party of Javea U3A members experienced an illuminating evening of classic music in the unique surroundings of the historic Real Liceo Casino building overlooking the marina in Alicante.
On a trip organised by Spanish Culture & Cuisine group leaders Angela Chantry and Tony Dearie, members enjoyed a concert entitled ‘Candlelight: 100 years of Warner Bros’, performed by the talented Noor Quarte string quartet.
The musicians played excerpts from some famous Warner Bros musicals including Over the Rainbow from the Wizard of Oz, Singin’ in the Rain, Shallow from A Star is Born and Purple Rain.
They ended with a special rendition of I’ll Be There from the TV series Friends as a special tribute to actor Matthew Perry, who died suddenly aged 54 the previous day.
The concert was staged in a dimmed room, lit only by hundreds of candles to add to the atmosphere.
It truly was a unique event and special thanks go to Angela and Tony for once again organising a memorable outing.
