Thursday WAGS: day trip to the Bodega Castaño
This is a great opportunity to join the Thursday Wine Appreciation Group day trip to the Bodega Castaño on Wednesday 3 June as we still have some places available.
This family owned winery is located in Yecla, a small town in the north of the province of Murcia. Here is a link to their website for more information https://www.bodegascastano.com/en/
We will be looked after by Raquel who has worked at the bodega for 20 years. She will give us a tour of the winery, the whole winemaking area, the barrel cellar and the bottle sanctuary.
This will then be followed by lunch and the wine presentation.
The menu will consist of 3 starters for sharing around the table, a homemade chicken and vegetable paella for the main course, followed by seasonal fruit and cheese flan for dessert. Each course will be paired with an interesting selection of 5 wines.
We will leave Javea at approximately 09:20 hrs and will arrive in Yecla at about 11:30 hrs. We will stop for a comfort break mid way.
The pickup points will be:
Jávea bus station – 08:50 hrs
The bridge on Ave Augusta – 09:05 hrs
After lunch, you will have time to visit the shop, where you will have the opportunity to purchase the wines of your choice. The bodega has kindly offered us 15% discounts off all wines and 30% discount off the wine of the month.
We will depart at approximately 16:30 hrs for our journey home to arrive in Javea at approximately 18:30 hrs. We will stop for a short comfort break en route if necessary.
The cost for the bus, tour, meal & wines will be €66 per person. This includes a small contingency just in case there is a cost increase made by the bus company due to fuel prices!
Bookings for this trip will be on a first come first served basis. If you would like to join us, please complete the form below and Karen Brown, the group leader, will be in contact with you regarding the payment.
Please note that only bookings with completed payments will have their place reserved.
If for any reason you have to cancel, please contact the group leader as soon as you know. If both the bus company and bodega have been paid for, or we have booked your meal and it will have to be paid for, then you will only receive a refund if we can find someone to take your place.
