History Group – Appeal for Speakers

read on for more details

The History Group is up and running again and has attracted a lot of members interested in learning new things.  We have had diverse subjects for the first three talks….. a great talk by Angela on Grace O’Malley, Irish lady pirate and her meeting with Elizabeth the First, one on the Arabian Gulf down to Zanzibar with pearls and slaves, then the first colonies in the USA before and after the Mayflower and the new states formed after the brave settlers finally succeeded.

We have a few more lined up but we need more speakers!  Some people are used to presenting and we so appreciate those who are happy to share their talks.

However, there are so many people out there with interesting stories and experiences.  A lot have lived overseas, in years gone by but say they do not have many pictures.  You do not need them….the internet can provide….and we can help put it all into a slide presentation for you.

It is your personal experiences in different countries and cultures that we are interested in.  We are thinking of adding art and culture talks, like Moraira U3A.  Do you have an interest in those which you can share?

Please contact Ally O’Brien email: history@u3ajavea.com and come along to join an enthusiastic and helpful group!
