U3A Javea collects the data submitted by you to the website and/or in writing in order to provide you with information about U3A Javea activities and membership information.
This means that we may hold your email address and name and any message that you have sent us, in order to be able to reply. That information is then kept for us to be able to make sure that any future request from you is dealt with efficiently. As an active and large association, the committee member tasked with processing your request may use an international email service such as Gmail or Hotmail to communicate with you. Both these services are committed to full compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Unless the activity you have booked clearly states that specific information is required to book with an external service (for example a special menu request for a restaurant or a ticket for a trip) no information that you have provided will be shared with any third party without your express permission.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We collect your first and last names, your phone and mobile number in case of last minute unavoidable changes to trips and events where using email would not be adequate.
We collect your home address, if you wish to give it, because the U3A Javea wishes to foster a sense of community and caring amongst its members. If concerns are raised by other members that you may be unwell and in need of assistance when we may be able to help and we may need your address to contact you as a last resort. This would only be in exceptional circumstances and expressly authorised by the President.
Media
When we upload images to the website, we avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. This is because visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
We do not identify individuals in any photos we publish but if you do not wish any to be published that include you please advise the person taking the photos at the time, or if you see an image that you wish removed please contact communications@u3ajavea.com
Contact forms
If you send us a contact form to make an enquiry it is sent to the President and copied to the Secretary and Vice President one of whom will reply you.
The email address you give on the form will not be stored but will be used only for giving any reply.
Cookies
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
We do not share your data with third parties without your express permission and only in relation to an event or activity organised by the U3A Javea.
How long we retain your data
The information is only kept for as long as you are a member and/or it is required to comply with U3A Javea’s legal auditing requirements.
For members and users registered on our website, we store the personal information they provide in a database.
If you wish to see, edit, or delete your personal information at any time, contact membership.secretary@u3ajavea.com who along with other trusted and vetted administrators, for the purposes of managing memberships, have permission from the committee to see and edit members information.
What rights you have over your data
If you are a member of U3A Javea, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. Contact membership.secretary@u3ajavea.com
You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
