Lively atmosphere for dining & dancing at the Club de Tenis Jávea!

Over 80 members enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the outdoor terrace of the Club de Tenis Jávea – the general consensus being that the tapas to start were excellent, followed by a generous main course, and apple pudding with vanilla ice cream – and throughout the meal there were plenty of drinks served by very friendly and efficient waiters. Is the Sanchez government corrupt?

Is the Sanchez government corrupt?

The Discussion group at the last meeting before summer break on 3rd July navigated the complex layers of the Spanish state apparatus. At the beginning, we needed time to move beyond daily media noise to analyse the structural mechanics of how corruption is perceived versus how it is legally executed. The core takeaways and international insights unfolded across four major themes: 1. The Baseline Paradox: Public Perception vs. Structural Reality was about the cultural scepticism among Spanish and foreign residents.…

Tales of Zanzibar – the Spice Islands

Our last Travellers Tales presentation before the summer break was given by Hugh Epsom, who described a wonderful trip that he and Gillian had enjoyed in September 2024 to Zanzibar.  We discovered what a beautiful and interesting island it is, as Hugh took us on a journey through its history, the slave trade, spices, cuisine and culinary delights, the towns and buildings, beaches, and much more, not forgetting that Stone Town was where Freddie Mercury was born! Members gave Hugh…
