Good afternoon fellow wine appreciaters. This month’s meeting was presented by Ray Brass titled “The Theatre of Wine”. A fantastic turnout of 47 members were all eager to get involved in tasting Ray’s selected champagne and wines.
Ray spoke not only about a lovely French Brut Champagne – Veuve Monsigny, but one white – La Tremenda from Enrique Mendoza and two delicious reds – Señorío de Gayan Gran Reserva and Casa La Luna Crianza. Ray concluded his wine presentation with a lovely dessert wine – Castaño Dulce Monastrell.
During his presentation there was some focus on the sometimes over zealous pomposity associated with wine tasting. Needless to say we all had a chuckle and no doubt silently or quietly refuted such snobbery
As Ray was celebrating a special birthday he was accompanied by his lovely daughter Lisa, who assisted wherever necessary to ensure the day ran smoothly.
Food produced by Elizabeth and her team complimented the wines together with a lovely birthday cake for Ray, which went down well with the dessert wine. No one left feeling hungry
.
The afternoon drew to a close with the usual raffle which resulted in 6 happy winners as Ray provided an extra bottle of dessert wine.
Our thanks goes out to Ray on an excellent presentation, delivered in a professional manner and also to Steve Young our resident photographer who as per normal managed to capture many happy snaps.
The next meeting will be on Thursday 5th November and we look forward to your company then.
Kindest regards,
Mark and Karen
