The U3A Photography Group aka Shutterbugs met last Friday September 20th. Many were still away enjoying their travels! However, a good proportion of the membership sent in pictures based on the Food project which was set at the meeting in June, the last before the Summer break.
You might think Food would be an easy project as everyone seems to be photographing food then uploading their pictures to Facebook. At Shutterbugs we don’t want just any picture but one that is thought through: i.e. taken from a different angle such as this from the winner of Photo of the Month (see above).
There were 15 pictures for the group to view and critique. There was a varied entry and some excellent attempts at fulfilling the project brief. This month’s winner was Colin Ruddle as chosen by the attendees at the meeting.
The meeting continued with two videos being shown based on the next project – MACRO. Mal Thomas’ subject choice for October. Macro is the wonderful world of close-up photography. The subject matter is incredibly varied from flowers to insects to nuts and bolts etc.
Mal added “My favourite subject matter is flowers. I love to get as close as possible so the detail and the incredible architecture of nature can be magnified. Of course this isn’t everybody’s preferred subject, so I look forward to seeing varied ideas based on the imagination of the photographer”.
The next meeting is Friday, October 18th from 2.00-3.30pm at Jávea International Baptist Church Centre, Calle de Favara 8, Javea 03730. Please note that as a number of the Group members are away and there is a clash with another event, we may decide to hold this meeting online. Watch this space!
As always, new members are always welcome and if you’d like to join or have any questions please contact the Group Leaders on shutterbugs@u3ajavea.com.
Best wishes
Colin and Mal
