IN THE STEPS OF AL ARAQ, MOORISH WARLORD OF THE MARINA ALTA: FRIDAY 25TH APRIL 2025

Al Azraq ruled a vast area of today´s province of Alicante, centred on the Val Gallinera and Val dÉbo, from around 1230 until his death at the Battle of Alcoi 1276.
This is a one day trip from Javea for a small group of 25 people to visit places associated with him and the history of the area before the Christian conquest.

It will include
Stops in the Val Gallinera to see from afar the castles at Benirrama and Benissili
A walk around the typical village of Beniali
Stop in Beniaia to see the Al Azraq mural

Guided tour of Alcala de la Jovada and a 3 course meal with wine there
Visit to the abandoned Morisco settlement of Atzuvieta
Visit the Nevera de Baix icestore
Stop for views of the Forada
The trip is not suitable for those with walking difficulties and please bear in mind that the coach will pass along narrow winding mountain roads, so not suitable for those who suffer from car sickness.
The trip is now open to all Javea U3A members, and the estimated cost including travel, meal, tips and a contribution to the U3A Travel Fund is 45 Euros. Fees will be collected after confirmation of your place.
