Margaret Elsden 1943-2024
We are sorry to report the death of another U3A Javea member.
Margaret Elsden passed away in her sleep at home in the UK on Thursday morning
after losing her brave battle against illness.
She and her husband Barry have been members of the U3A from the early days and
have attended many groups and functions over the years while sharing their time
between their villa in Javea and home in Ely, Cambridgeshire.
Margaret was a lovely sociable lady, always with a smile on her face and first up on
the dance floor until she became ill.
She celebrated her 80th birthday in Javea last February so was just 81 when she
died.
She was a member of groups including Dining Out, Dine & Dance and Rummikub
and loved attending special functions such as the Summer Ball.
In her working days she ran a shop business in Ely specializing in greetings cards
and gifts while Barry worked as a builder.
As she died at her home in Ely, her funeral will be in the UK.
Our sincere condolences go to the couple’s two daughters, Karen and Marie, and
family and friends at this sad time.
