This will be a general meeting with reports from the Committee with a slightly earlier start at 10am (doors open 9.45am) followed by a talk by Rosalind Miranda ‘A FOUR-YEAR NOT-ALWAYS-PACIFIC SAIL AROUND THE WESTERN PACIFIC, April 1973-December 1976’ Rosalind said – My trip started in Fiji. From there, over a four-year period, I sailed to the New Hebrides (now known as Vanuatu), then continued to the Solomon Islands (which was then the British Solomon Islands), Papua New Guinea, Truk in the Carolines, Saipan in the Marianas, Japan, Taiwan, & Hong Kong.
I will start by explaining how & why I came to get a yacht. I will then give some highlights of each of the places I visited, talking about the history of the place, some of its customs, & some of the fascinating people I met. Finally I will explain why I didn’t continue the trip after Hong Kong.
