On what may have been the last day of Summer, we had a lovely party in the glorious setting of Javea Golf Club with over 90 members attending.
What a beautiful location, and lovely staff also. We had a strong breeze (blew over some of the empy wine glasses – NO, it was the wind I tell you ….. Anyway, we sat outdoors, and had a good natter with old friends. A little later Becky BB entertained us with our kind of songs, did some requests, and was a lovely addition to our evening – Thank You, Becky and her husband Paul on the sound system.
The Golf Club served plenty of wine and after we had wet our whistle, they came out with lots of tasty Tapas. Some members had actually been to WAGS in the afternoon, and then bravely marched on to join us. Well done chaps! AEMET had predicted rain and although it didn’t reach us at the Club (it fell at 11pm in Javea), we did see the lightening behind our mighty Montgo.
Our thoughts went to the people of Nepal: Apparently many years ago when Nepal had the big earthquake, U3A Javea had a collection for them, and were greatly moved by the response we received from Nepal – they actually sent over a video of what they did with the money.
So we did a little collection for them at the party, and were pleased to have collected 374.57€ which will buy 850 emergency meals. This will be donated to the UN World Food Programme Appeal for Nepal. Thank you everyone!
