At this month’s History Group, we were treated to an excellent presentation from Alan Hunton titled “The Earth is not Flat.”
Alan is one of our regular speakers and has rightly earned himself the title of our very own Science Historian.
This time, Alan took us on a fascinating journey through how people—from Ancient Greece right up to the present day—have understood the shape and nature of our planet. Despite it being pretty clear to most that the Earth isn’t flat, those flat-Earth conspiracy theories just won’t go away!
Group Leader, Keith Smith, gave Alan a well-deserved thanks for another brilliant talk and mentioned how we always look forward to Alan’s visits and insights.
Looking ahead, don’t miss next month’s gathering on June 9th, where we’ll be joined by another favourite, UK writer David Ebsworth. He’ll be sharing tales of Eliyu Yale and His Wicked Wife.
Again David, a UK based writer, has done some great presentations in the past and his talks are always warmly received, so put this one in your diary right now.
Casa Cultura, June 9th 11.00am. Everyone is most welcome, and it’s free!
