Founding members were Fritz Bleyel, Erich Heckel, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seminal group had a major impact on the evolution of modern art in the 20th century and the creation of expressionism. The name \u201cBr\u00fccke\u201d was intended to \u201csymbolize the link, or bridge, they would form with art of the future\u201d. Influenced by Northern Renaissance artists such as Albrecht D\u00fcrer, Mattias Gr\u00fcnewald and Lucas Cranach, as well as contemporary international avant-garde movements, the aim was to depart from the prevalent traditional academic style and find a new mode of artistic expression. The group published a Programme in 1906, where Kirchner wrote: \u201cWe call all young people together, and as young people, who carry the future in us, we want to wrest freedom for our actions and our lives from the older, comfortably established forces,\u201d and \u201cEveryone who reproduces, directly and without illusion, whatever he senses the urge to create, belongs to us\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone welcome.
