However, our conversation will likely go beyond just individual values\u2014it will also touch on the values shaping Western societies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do we truly know ourselves? Do we take the time to reflect on the values we hold? And what role, if any, does science play in all of this?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many believe that science will never provide answers to life\u2019s most profound questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>What is worth living for?<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>What is worth dying for?<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>What makes a good life?<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet, some philosophers, neuroscientists, and researchers argue that values are not just abstract ideas but actual facts\u2014facts about the well-being of conscious beings. If that\u2019s the case, then there are indeed right and wrong ways to navigate this space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do core values like honesty, integrity, gratitude, compassion, or love still resonate with us? If not, why? Have they been replaced by something else? If so, by what?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It could also be fascinating to compare these values with those found further east, beyond Europe and in Asian societies.
