We are posting a copy of an open letter written by Hugh Elliott, the British Ambassador in Madrid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is about a process being followed by the Department for Work and Pensions to check that pensioners receiving the Old Age Pension in Spain are still eligible. It involves pensioners supplying a \u201clife certificate\u201d to certify that they are still alive and entitled to receive the Old Age Pension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially this process is being applied to people over the age of 80.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are over 80 and have not yet received a letter requesting a life certificate, you can request another letter at the following website: https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/international-pension-centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is really important that you follow the process quickly as a failure to do so might result in your Old Age pension not being paid.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are under the age of 80 there is no action required but a letter will be sent towards the end of this year requesting a \u201clife certificate\u201d. The British Embassy recommends that you check your registered address by going to the website: https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/international-pension-centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
