Members of the U3A\u2019s Family History group were entertained to an excellent presentation by fellow member Duncan Petrie at their February meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duncan began his talk with a reference to the late Michael Parkinson, who had been considered \u201cnot interesting enough\u201d to be featured on BBC TV\u2019s \u2018Who Do You Think You Are?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duncan assured his audience that, contrary to that assumption, everybody\u2019s background was of interest \u2013 and he illustrated that with a fascinating insight into his own ancestry and the amazing characters that his years of research had brought to light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It included prominent MPs, church leaders, professors \u2026. and even a pirate!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scottish-born Duncan even highlighted a real-life murder mystery drama which his ancestors had been involved in \u2013 although his family emerged unblemished!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Group leader Lorely Griffiths thanked Duncan for his in-depth presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
