SC&C members get a taste of orange

Oranges were the order of the day on the latest Javea U3A Spanish Culture & Cuisine Group day trip.

Fifty members joined group leaders Angela and Tony on the coach trip to Carcaixent, described as “the cradle of the Valencian orange”.

Highlight of the day was a guided tour round the 50-acre Ribera’s Orchard and an explanation about how the oranges are cultivated, harvested and sorted for distribution in Spain and abroad.

The group then enjoyed lunch in a typical Spanish restaurant, before returning to Javea … tired but exceptionally satisfied with yet another successful SC&C outing, once again organised to perfection by Angela and Tony.
