Javea U3A members were treated to an interesting talk by former UN peacekeeper Robert Van De Loo at the June general meeting at the Parador. Guest speaker Robert talked about his postings to some of the most turbulent war zones in the world, where he experienced devastation, poverty and loss of life. However, he told members that it was a rewarding experience and he had no regrets. He was thankful for the support of his wife and daughter, who during his career had to endure 37 house moves! Robert was thanked for his talk and given a bottle of wine by U3A vice-president Peter Allin. Peter appealed to members to help find future guest speakers to keep up the high standards.
