Valencia a pre Christmas day trip, guided visit to some of the gems in the city followed by an exceptional lunch @ Valencia
Dec 9 @ 08:45 – 18:00

TOTAL COST WILL BE 40 EURO EACH THIS INCLUDED COACH, ENTRIES, GUIDE, LUNCH, DRINKS (WITHIN REASON!) GRATUITIES etc

We have moved our pre Christmas trip to 2021 – so hopefully…..

Thursday 9 December 2021

Depart Arenal 08:45 then Interiors at 09:00

Returning to Javea at 18:00 approx.

When we arrive in Valencia we will enjoy a coffee break before embarking on a really interesting walking tour. This is an ideal trip for those new members who may not have explored the delights of Valencia. However we always find new things to discover about our favourite local city whenever we go there, so please do join us.

Here´s a sample of some of the places we may decide to visit – the exact itinerary will be decided nearer the time. Our guide is a resident of Valencia and speaks fluent English.

Mercado de Colon, Plaza Ayuntamiento, Mercado Central, The Commodity Exchange Building (Lonja de la Seda), San Nicolas (this church has been refurbished recently and it is known as the Sixtine Chapel), Cathedral and Basilica, Almoina (roman remains- this is the origin of Valencia, and is very very interesting museum)…

We had a fabulous lunch at this restaurant in December 2019, so what better than a repeat this year!

Full details and menu options will be published later (vegetarian option will be available) but as it was over subscribed last year our advice is to book as soon as we open up the bookings.

The table layout has obviously changed to reflect social distancing.

We would prefer everyone to pay via bank transfers, however for those we are unable to do this will will try to arrange as alternative arrangement.

For bank transfer payments – details available by clicking here the preferred method of payment. Just quote Valencia Xmas on your transfer.

We know a number of you join us in small groups, so if one of you would be able to pay by bank transfer for you and your friends it would make payments far easier for all. If you do please inform the Trip Leader by email beforehand, so we can ensure everyone is added to the trip list – nothing worse than missing someone out!

If you need to sit in a specific area of the bus, for mobility or other reasons please do confirm this with the trip leader in advance, and we will help if we can. It may not be possible to do this at the last minute on the day of travel.

Trip Leaders are Dave & Avril Butt. Please email travel.db@u3ajavea.com

Patios of Cordoba – MAY 2022
May 9 @ 08:45 – May 13 @ 18:00

BOOKING OPEN SHORTLY

We will be running this trip during May 2022 if possible.  Currently the hotels are closed but are expected to reopen by the summer, we will then be able to contact them to finalise the details.

It is only two years later than originally planned – thank you Covid!!

A number of members who had previously booked the trip have expressed their support for it to again be available, so initially the trip will be offered to those who had booked last year – we will then open bookings to the rest of Javea U3A membership.

Not having been able to run the full festival for two years the organisers will be pulling out all the stops next year, so we expect hotels to fill quickly, especially in the city centre.

Specific dates are to be confirmed but provisionally set from 9 – 13 May 2022 (5 days & 4 nights).

This mean the trip runs from Monday to Friday but this will be confirmed nearer the date of travel.

For more information follow this link http://patios.cordoba.es/en to the Patios of Cordoba website for 2020 when it was run for the first time during October, for a good understanding of the festival.  Please note that the website is for a previous festival.

The Patios Fiesta of Cordoba is a unique world-famous attraction running for about 14 days early in May every year. It has become one of the must see attractions in Spain. We will be spending three full days and four nights in Cordoba to enable us to really experience this truly spectacular event.

Travelling by coach from Javea to Cordoba, with plenty of comfort breaks on the way, our hotel is situated in the old town with the various patios within walking distances. We will be staying on a bed and breakfast basis, this will enable us to enjoy the many tapas bars and restaurants situated all over the old town – with many being very reasonably priced.
We will be using the two Javea pickup points.
You can also visit many of the beautiful buildings in the City. For example, the Mosque of Cordoba is one of the largest in the world, and is considered the most important Islamic monument in the West.

As previously we plan on staying at the 4 star Hotel Eurostar Conquistador on a bed and breakfast basis (hot buffet breakfast) in the old town opposite the mosque, obviously this is to be confirmed.

One of the very special archaeological sites in the region is the Medina Azahara situated just outside of Cordoba. This is easily reached from the town, and we are considering an options to add to a guided tour with travel by shuttle bus from Cordoba.  The information is available of their website: http://www.museosdeandalucia.es/web/conjuntoarqueologicomadinatalzahra/inicio

We anticipate using Gandia Travel for this trip. They have supported Javea U3A with their expertise on many occasions in the past, and we are confident this will continue.  They were a tremendous help with quickly refunding the full amount when we had to cancel last year, so we want to show our loyalty in return.
We are including basic insurance to ensure we are covered for trip cancellation – but please note this is not as comprehensive as what many members arrange on an annual basis, so as always it is sensible for members to have their own full insurance cover.

The total cost will be 480 – 520 euro approximately each (depending on numbers) based on two people in a twin/double room

A single supplement of 100 euro is anticipated

AN INITIAL DEPOSIT OF TWO HUNDRED EURO EACH IS REQUIRED TO CONFIRM  YOUR BOOKING

Final payments will be due by 31 January 2022

Payments are required by Bank Transfer (please quote the trip name “CORDOBA” as the reference). Click here for Bank transfer details

Important Note: If you have mobility issues or wish to seat in a specific area please do let us know at the time of booking and we will try to arrange an appropriate seat.

Now please do read our Terms and Conditions.
