Fancy some new and interesting adventures?

Are you interested in joining a new U3A Gaming Group? If so, member Bill Dunham would love to hear from you.

If you enjoyed playing traditional board games in the past, like Monopoly, Cluedo and Snakes & Ladders, you will probably be astonished to discover how the gaming world has developed and expanded over the past 40 years. Thousands of new modern games are being introduced across the world each year, designed to appeal to the widest possible audience.

There are many different categories of games aimed at mature players and guaranteed to provide challenges to your spirit of competition, co-operation, skill, excitement and, above all, fun!

As a games player from childhood, Bill has returned to the gaming world and is now building up a library of the best new modern games – and would be keen to encourage others to join in, learn to play a variety of games, and expand the interest in this absorbing hobby.

What sort of games are immediately available to play here?

Modern games come in a variety of categories. Some are abstract strategy games.

Others are designed to create and build new civilisations. Others are straightforward detective style games, often with a psychological undertone. Others may involve space adventuring, and yet more might entail battling with ghastly fiends in some dank dungeon while your intrepid band of travellers search for hidden riches and gold. The environments may take you into the strange worlds of Star Trek or Lord of the Rings, or building train lines in Edwardian Europe, guiding camel trains across the Sahara, or perhaps developing the less dramatic fields of Medieval France.

Several games are designed for two players only, while others work best with 3-5 players. In all cases we can teach you how to play and help you through the early stages of learning.

See the list of currently available games below, but as a collector of the best new games around, Bill expects to be adding to the list several times each year.
