Day Trip to The Grotto of San José (Caves)

Friday 21st April 

Leaving from opp., Interiors Javea Port at 09.00 prompt.

Arriving back in Javea approx., 18.00

We will be visiting the grotto of San Jose in Vall de Uixó, Castellon where we will be taking a boat on the longest navigable underground river in Europe sailing through the tranquil waters of the various cavities which offers a spectacular sight. Click here for more details

At the entrance of the grotto, you can see cave paintings and archaeological sites that are more than 15,000.00 years old, followed by a 250m guided walking tour. After which you will have free time to visit the chapel which is on the hill above the grotto accessed by steps or alternatively on the other side are Iberian ruins with a panoramic view of the Mediterranean sea.

Or you could head into town on the tourist train. There are a variety of restaurants and outdoor bars in the immediate area of the caves some of them actually built into the caves themselves. 

This trip is not suitable for anybody with walking disabilities.

The cost is 31 euros per person of pensionable age (Please bring ID)

 and 35 euros for others, price includes bus transfers and entrance to the caves.
